The Occasion

Ramanavami is celebrated in remembrance of Lord Rama on the day of his birthday. It falls on Navami โ€” the ninth day counted from the Full Moon day in the Tamil month of Chiththirai (April-May). It is a day of devotion, reflection, and simplicity.

The Food

As with most festivals in our tradition, Ramanavami is accompanied by its own set of special foods โ€” humble, cooling, and purposeful for the summer season:
