Thoughts, ideas, and observations — written openly.
Hi — I go by Thinkman online. I grew up in a bustling coastal city in South India and have spent my career bridging the worlds of government IT, software development, and UNIX systems consultancy across two continents.
I completed my schooling locally and went on to earn a Post Graduation in Computer Applications from a well-regarded university in my home state. My career began in the public sector — several years as a Systems Analyst and Programmer within a state government department, working alongside a national IT body on large-scale administrative systems. From there I moved into private software firms before eventually transitioning into international UNIX consultancy.
Over the years I have worked across a broad range of UNIX platforms — HP/9000, RS/6000, Sun SPARC, DEC Alpha, SGI, and Intel-based Linux and SCO UNIX systems — supporting organisations across many areas of UNIX operations.
I believe that in this Electronic Age, the person with the most information is one step ahead. I created this space to share what I know, what I think, and what I find useful — with anyone who stumbles across it.
Web development, collecting stamps and coins from around the world, reading, writing short poems in my mother tongue, listening to music, and the exquisite 300-year-old art form of Tanjore Paintings.
When I entered the software world, a friend suggested I use a nickname that reflected a core personality trait. After one failed attempt at something altogether forgettable — Thinkman stuck. It has been my identity on the internet ever since.
This blog started as a personal page — a way to stay connected and share information with those who know me and those who want to. It quickly became something bigger: a genuine attempt to be useful to the wider internet family. Whatever you find here is the result of that intention.
