Sri Rama Navami 2008
Monday, April 14th, 2008Ramanavami is celebrated in rememberance of Lord Rama on the day of his birthday. It is celebrated on Navami day (8th day from the Full moon day in the Tamil month of Chiththirai)
Again Festival usually is accompnied by festive food related to the celebration. Ramanavami;s special food is Neermore (liquid yoghurt), paruppu (fresh soaked lentils) and Paanagam (Jaggery wattery).

Tamil new year 2008 (Sarvadhari)

Today the April 13th 2008 is Tamil new years day and it marks the beginning of a new year. The Tamil Calendar follows a 60 year cycle just like the Chinese calendar and a good write up about this is available in Wikipedia with the topic Tamil Calendar. Each of the 60 years have a name.
